Yema Ferreira

Find her on facebook, twitter and https://www.yemaferreira.com/

My name is Yema Ferreira, I am Angolan, and I am a healer, psychotherapist, and life coach. My mission is to spiritually liberate black and African people all over the world and to be part of the movement to heal the collective trauma of black people and people of African descent resultant from slavery, colonization, and neo-colonialism. Part of this process is to retrieve our History – our individual personal histories, our family and community histories, our national histories and, importantly, our pre-colonial history as a People.

I have known from a very early age that I was here to work with people therapeutically to resolve trauma.  To that end, I studied Psychology at the undergraduate level at Temple University in Philadelphia (USA) and later began my training in Existential Psychotherapy at Psykoterapeutisk Institut in Denmark. I have since obtained a Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regents University London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from the same university. I am currently a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Although psychotherapy helped me to develop my practice in important ways, it turned out to be only part of what I needed to take on my task. And so, I went on to do some Coaching training and to study and explore spirituality as well, in order to further develop my natural gifts. As a result, I use a blend of all these skills acquired and deepened in different ways in my work with women.

GOB skincare

Find them on Facebook, Instagram and https://gobskincare.dk/

GOB SkinCare was established in Denmark in 2016 by two sisters – Najad and Muna M. Ahmed. The company is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

GOB Skincare is a company inspired by raw natural skincare ingredients that women in East Africa have been using for generations. In rural areas of Somalia, Somaliland, Djibouti and Ethiopia, women have amazing, flawless skin despite living in harsh and hot desert environments. Part of this is, of course, genetic – but a large part of is also due to traditional raw natural skincare treatments that they have been using for generations.

A key element of this treatment is a facial mask called Qasil that is made of from leaves from the Zizyphus Mauritanie tree also known as the Chinese Date or Indian Jujube or in Somali the Gob tree. The leaves from the Gob tree are dried and finely crushed to form a green powder, called "Qasil" in Somali. Qasil is used as a facial wash, mask or shampoo and helps to cleanse the skin without causing dryness.
Qasil is an essential part of any Somali woman's beauty regime. Besides being the Somali name for the Zizyphus Spina-Christi tree, the word "gob" has several other meanings for Somalis: everything that is natural, fresh, good, pure and honest is called "gob". That's why we believe "GOB" is the perfect name for our skincare line made from the best pure and natural ingredients.

Through her journey as a fashion designer, Céline met her husband, a Senegalese man, who first fell in love with one of her most popular accessories, “The ethnical scarf” (a scarf beautifully hand knitted, combined with wax prints). Since then, Qiim became a small family business.

The event was so well received that the exhibition was extended and a debat was started beyond the visual exhibition. The need for representation and authentic storytelling, and sharing of experiences outside the norm was made clear.
That is how one event evolved into what is now known as Not The Norm; a platform, a social enterprise and creative collective dedicated for black and brown people. It is dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the depth in culture, and diversity but more importantly, the perspectives, experiences and stories that need to be told and shared. It also aims to function as a knowledge hub on the subject of culture and diversity.

Find them on Instagram and Facebook

A Seat At The Table er Stephanie, Naima & Ingrid.

Vis A Vis Art Collective

Find them on Facebook and Instagram

Vis À Vis Art Collective (VAVAC) is a forum for reflection and debating the experience of the PAD community in Denmark through cultural and social events such as: film screenings, spoken word, panel discussions, food nights etc. The aim is to create a platform and space in which freedom of expression and discussion can flourish within different themes dealing with the concept of diversity.

We have felt the thirst and we have seen how the PAD (People of African/ Caribbean decent) community in Denmark hydrates on small drops of reflection. VAVAC wants to serve all the shades within the color scheme and represent the underrepresented by giving them faces, names and voices.

ART is a universal language, a vessel that traverses the sea of viewpoints, connecting them from all corners of the world. Through film screenings, spoken word sessions, visual art and performance art we can find a collective resonance.

Added to that we want to create a “safe zone” environment from where we unapologetically can raise questions about issues that concern racialization and stereotyping.

>> VAVAC's events speak to a collective resonance.

VAVAC is a project consisting of Roger Matthisen, Elianna Hansen, Paul Henckel, Sade Johnson and Amma Asare-Nyako.
------------------------------------------------------------
VAVAC is

Amma Asare-Nyako – Cand. Soc., Educator and Counselor. She loves to salute and reflect on the term diversity. With a master´s degree in social work, Amma is interested in working with discrimination of minorities and creating equal rights for everyone in society.

She also volunteers in the non-profit Danish organizations Settlementet and Første Skridt that help the socially vulnerable citizens. http://elianna.dk/

Paul Henckel - Software engineer, Photographer, Videographer and Permacultural Environmentalist - bends on addressing food-related issues in any form and resurrecting the social aspects of food culture. Black lives matter Denmark

Find them on Facebook

Black Lives Matter Denmark addresses injustices against minorities within the non-criminal asylum/immigration prisons and criminal justice system.

BLM Denmark is a platform from which to actively address and protest minority racism against people of color by the police and justice system.
The active focus will mainly be for Denmark and Northern Europe while also updating with relevant news an international level.

BLM Denmark will mainly address L67 law resulting in the Guantamamo - Concentration Camp type jailings of non-criminal innocent asylum seekers and immigrants rotting in jails for months on end. There has been no attention paid and no organised protest so the authorities have become negligent with minoritys right to freedom.
These jailings are getting longer and longer resulting in suicide attempts and hunger strikes. We appreciate them not gassing the inmates to death and not forcing them in labour but that is where the difference stops.
Normal right and privileges granted to the Danish criminal prison population are denied jailed asylum seekers, transit refugees and immigrants.

Besides that issues regarding the kriminelle justice system will be addressed on this platform.
This is right from the Ryan Lochte and "Asyl spray" type #TheBlackGuyDidItSyndrome to ever growing unfair huge gap between the length of sentences criminal justice system doles out to people of color and White people. This combined with not being able to afford good legal representation affects the statistics reinforcing the myth and prejuidice that men of color are dangerous and more criminal.

The assumption of guilt begins with the Police on street level where there is an ever growing tendency for a racially mixed groups of friends from the age of adolescence up to be approached by Police and only the minorities have to show their iD.
- There is a greater ratio of arrests
- There is a longer and higher rate of convictions needs to be researched on a scientific level and debated.
- White convicted seem to receive more "fodlænker" sentences

If you are a minority Dane and would like to assist in the engine room, you are more than welcome to send a message. I took the initiative but I humbly admit one person cannot carry this project alone. I need the communities support in a combined and common effort.

Black Lives Matter Denmark is intersectional and addresses Black and Brown race minority issues.
